Summary:
A small hiking group in the wilderness – with bloody revenge for company.

Milly has barely spoken to her sister Judith in years. They hardly exchanged a word at their mother’s funeral. They could not be further apart.

So when Milly gets an invitation to go on a hiking trip, she hopes it will be an opportunity for reconciliation. Inviting her school-friend Harper along with her for support, the small party head off together into the bush.

What awaits Milly is far from just a bracing hike in the wilderness, but an unexpected encounter with the past. The form it takes is revenge. But who is enacting it against Milly, and why?

Intense, gripping, and full of suspense.

Whilst the action in this book comes thick and fast, it is the relationship between the sisters and their mutual friend, Harper, that introduces the true darkness into the story.

If you enjoy nail-biting suspense fiction with great twists, RETRIBUTION RIDGE is for you.

This book is set in the rugged landscape below Perth in South Western Australia, an area the author has explored in depth. You may also enjoy her first thriller, BACKWOODS RIPPER.

Blog Tour | Review ― Plastic Wings by C.T. Callahan

Hey there! How’s your day been?

It’s been an extremely eventful day for me. First on the list… I received my promotional exams results today and as expected, I’m retaining for a year. And since it wasn’t compulsory for me to attend the rest of the lectures for the year, I decided to make a trip down to Orchard Road, or more specifically, Kinokuniya, where I bought Tokyo Ghoul Days (I was tempted by Hide) and Teen Titans Vol. 1 (have I ever mentioned HOW MUCH I LOVE DAMIEN WAYNE???). Now that I’m in Orchard Road, I thought: hey, why don’t I visit that gorgeous looking library that I’ve known about for two years now?? So I did. And damn it was amazing. The air-con wasn’t the best but the shelves, man, the shelves. I walked out thirty minutes later, with my bag having put on some more weight and took a direct bus home. But wait, the story doesn’t end here. I saw how my wardrobe was sorely lacking in clothes I actually enjoy wearing, and so, using the upcoming New Zealand trip as a cover-up, I splurged almost S$200 on clothes.

Now then, let’s move on to the book review! But first, a warning…

Blog Tour | Review ― Iniquity by Melody Winter (+ Giveaway)

I only made eight highlights in this book in total. They started from chapter 2 and stopped at chapter 8. So either I was really entranced by this book that I forgot to highlight when I read a quote I liked or something I wanted to note for potential future references, or there was nothing highlight-able.

Summary:
Athena Harrow is about to turn twenty-one, but there will be no celebration. What is there to celebrate when the world is ruled by demons?

She hates the darkness the demons brought with them and longs for the light to return to the world—a world she only vaguely remembers. The people in her forest village blindly accept the life the demons forced upon them, even tolerating the yearly ascension ceremony where all the girls who have turned twenty-one are either sent away to serve the Master Demon or left in the village and forced to procreate.

But Paymon, the assigned village demon, selects a different role for Athena, a role that pits her against the village. While she adapts to her new life, Erebus, a younger, more powerful demon, arrives, and Athena must play a dangerous game with his emotions in return for information about the demon’s reign of darkness.

As Athena’s dreams of restoring the light begin to fade, her life with Erebus takes an unexpected turn, and this time it’s her life being put to the test.

Set in the forest around Buttercrambe in North Yorkshire, England, INIQUITY explores the frightening, darker side of romance and the uncontrolled emotions it can unleash.Read More »

Blog Tour | Review ― Soul Finder by Jacinta Maree (+ Giveaway)

The past few days has been a rollercoaster of events. There are some I would have celebrated and talked about endlessly to my friend (i.e.: buying one of my highly anticipated November releases, the announcement of Young Justice season 3, the end of my Oral Presentation examinations, receiving book mail today) but I decided to tone down my excitement for these few days (I’m pretty sure that’s good news for my friend, lesser spam from me). While people across the globe are waiting for the “What now?” question to be answered, I tried to delve a bit into political talk in this review. Hopefully, no one minds and that I did this right (though really, what is right and what is wrong?).

(Also, WordPress just informed me that this is my 50th post on this blog. And this blog turns five months old in eight days, so that’s an average of ten posts a month, like… wow, just wow. I originally thought this would be a test drive of sorts, that maybe I’ll get bored of it soon and ditch this site after a few reviews but I’ve actually become really invested in it. Writing reviews has helped me realise the fun in writing something other than a narrative. Thank you to all you 44 followers, be it new or old, who decided to click that “follow” button. Hope you’ll all continue to stay with me for as long as I continue to blog.)
