July ’16 Haul + Wrap-up

Really cutting it close with this haul + wrap-up post. Almost wanted to procrastinate it till next week 😅

Since this month is part of a school term, all my book buying money has to come from my allowance. I gave myself a limit of two books per month, but this month has taught me something important: NEVER BUY BOOKS AT THE START OF THE MONTH. I literally went broke this month. Didn’t even have a single cent left. So now, I have learnt my lesson and I will put off the buying of books till the last week of each month. This I swear on the River Styx. In fact, I think I might go on a book buying ban next month. Maybe I’ll spend the money on props for my bookstagram or just simply save up the money for AFA 2016 or a huge book buying spree at the end of the year.Read More »

The Novel Encounter

When my parents travelled to Perth, Australia this June, they came across a bookstore called Elizabeth’s Bookshop and the Blind Date With A Book concept, where a book is fully wrapped and you have to base your choice on a few vague phrases written on the wrapping that describe the book. Knowing that I enjoy reading, they bought one for me. They told me of this over WhatsApp and sent me a picture of the choices available, asking me what book I would have chosen if I was there. And guess what? They actually bought the one I would have chosen had I been there! Mother knows best, indeed.

Two days ago, I discovered The Novel Encounter, a Singapore-based online store which follows a similar concept, just that they sell only mystery books.Read More »

Book Review: The Eden Conspiracy (The Liberty Box #2) by C.A. Gray

This review is long overdue. But in the time that I have been procrastinating this review, I have been thinking and have realised that I don’t really care much for the characters, only what will happen to them and how the storyline pans out. It is a good story, but it’s just one that I would read to burn time… it’s not one that would stay with me forever.

Book Review: The Liberty Box (The Liberty Box #1) by C.A. Gray

I have hit a new record. This time, I’ve managed to finish a book in just two days. Not sure if I should be proud of myself or berate myself for focusing more on reading books than my homework.

Hi everyone! I’m back with another review~ I noticed that I’ve been reading quite a few standalones these days so I thought I’d try finding some new series’ to read, and the book I’m reviewing today is one of them. Also, I’m glad to say that this is a spoiler free review!! (at least I think it is 😂 it is pretty subjective)

Book Review: There Once Were Stars by Melanie McFarlane

Hello everyone! After that last not-so-favourable review, I decided I would just read books that are more similar to my preferences. Not really in the mood to continue trying out new genres. I am, however, in the mood to try out a new review format… but I’m too lazy to zzz… for now…

I received an ebook copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Book Review: Blood Moon (Insolita Luna #1) by M.J. O’Shea

I need to stop reading and writing reviews at this rate and actually do some homework.

My original review was actually a lot more criticising than this one but I downplayed it a bit… Like just because I don’t like this book due to the what I felt was overly excessive kissing scenes, doesn’t mean that others would dislike the book as well.
